MUSICAL DIRECTOR

Martin Rendle

Thanet Male Voice Choir is very pleased to introduce local teacher and performer, Martin Rendle, as their new Musical Director.

Martin started singing as an amateur chorister in his local church choir and then later sang for five years in Snowdown Male Voice Choir. He went on to study singing and turned professional in 1995, attaining his performer’s diploma at the London College of Music. Since then he has been a regular performer of Opera, Operetta and Oratorio and has toured both in the UK and overseas with companies such as Glyndebourne, European Chamber Opera, London City Opera, Opera Box and Columbia Artists.

Martin is an experienced singing teacher and has worked in a number of education establishments and drama schools as well as teaching at his own studio in St Nicholas at Wade. His pupils range from children to adults, and include experienced professional performers from theatre and television.

 

 

ACCOMPANIST
Deborah Longley MA, LRAM

Deborah Longley

Deborah attended the Royal Academy of Music, studying piano and clarinet, and at age of 19 was awarded the LRAM Diploma in Piano Accompanying.  She then read music at Oxford University, achieving a good honours degree, and later went on to teach Music up to Advanced and Oxbridge level. She moved to Thanet in 1998 and now teaches piano, electronic keyboard and clarinet to a wide range of individual students

A very experienced accompanist and choral singer, Deborah is currently a member of the Broadstairs-based Phoenix Singers. She has also sung with Thanet’s Seventy Chamber Choir and Festival Choir but has now taken on the role of rehearsal pianist with both these groups. She has been the Thanet Male Voice Choir’s official accompanist since February 1999.
